Hope View School

This is our first year using Literacy Gold and it has been a brilliant programme to support our SEN pupils. We have used the programme to tailor our interventions to the needs of each pupil and to complement our phonics work in class. We have some great progress across our users, aged 8 to 17, who use the programme to fill in gaps in phonic knowledge in Reading Unlocked, apply their phonic knowledge in spellings on the Spelling Tutor and to expand their vocabulary and understanding in Comprehension Superstars.

Individual pupil stories

Student A, aged 14, joined the school in January, since then he has been using Literacy Gold each week. When he started he lots of gaps in his phonics for a number of reasons and his confidence and ability has changed dramatically, with a 13 month increase in his reading age in just 4 months.

Student B, aged 15, has been in our school for a few years now and any literacy work is a struggle. With Dyslexia and Irlens diagnosis, English is not his favourite subject and his confidence is low, but with the work he's been doing on Literacy Gold, his reading age has increased by 19 months in just 5 months. Making his English lessons a little easier to manage and we are seeing the confidence improve and the meltdowns decease.
